Family State & Coffee history
Founded in 1890 in a strategic spot, Finca San Antonio is our historic family farm with coffee heritage.
We have proudly cared for this farm for five generations, maintaining our forefather's values of quality, work ethic, and respect for the land and workers. Today it is under a renewal process, since we have replaced the traditional varieties that are affected by rust, for a more resistant grain, such as the Sarchimor.
We also renewed our growing techniques through state of the art technology and science for improved quality and consistency to keep up with a steady crop.

Why did we at Finca San Antonio opt for the diversification of the Sarchimor variety?
San Antonio takes a different philosophy to rust management. Instead of looking for a single rust-resistant variety, we have several coffee varieties, all within the Sarchimor family.
That way if one is vulnerable to rust or other pests, we can replace it without having to start the plantation from scratch and without damaging the harvest of that year and the following ones.
It is a way of being able to guarantee that we will always maintain a stable harvest with the same cup quality.
Resilient Varieties
Finca San Antonio was founded in 1890 by Luis Alfaro Durán, the first president of the Central Reserve Bank and the son of a coffee-growing family.
Don Luis was an extremely meticulous person, not only for numbers, but for everything he undertook.
The farm had its own mill, irrigation system and even a laboratory for soil analysis. The coffee it produced was of such good quality that it was tasted by distinguished clients such as the Royal House of Orange in the Netherlands.
Today the farm is still in the hands of the same family, today under the management of three of his Villavicencio grandchildren who employ the same spirit of excellence in their work.
Family History
MAV Coffee Nursery
Finca San Antonio is trully the origin of origins. It houses MAV COFFEE Nursery
Cultivation of coffee trees begins with planting the seeds in potting soil and tended in nurseries for 9 to 18 months, until they reach a height of 18 to 24 inches when they are transplanted to permanent groves.
Coffee seedlings are grown in nursery beds or polybags and are planted in the coffee fields when they reach 20-40 cm.
