Finca La Pacaya Geisha: The Origin of an Origin .

What came first the land, or the seeds?

Contrary to what others would do, we first obtained the seeds and then acquired the ideal property, with the necessary requirements to ensure that the plants develop their full potential attributes, which are perceived in their aroma and fragrance.

We strongly believed that in order to plant varieties of coffee trees that provide special attributes in the cup, we needed to jump on the opportunity to buy the seeds directly from a viable source, to guarantee traceability & genetics to ensure the quality we were looking for. We spare no expense and travel to other countries to obtain them.

About the seeds

In 2013 we acquired the first Geisha seeds in Boquete, Panama, through Francisco Serracín, who introduced it to Panama in 1963 for the first time. It was not until 2003 that he, together with Andrés López and Daniel Peterson, separately tasting the coffee varieties from their farms, were able to detect the special qualities of Café Geisha T.2722. We were attended by Francisco Serracín himself, with whom we tasted and checked the attributes.

About the Land:

1750-2,00 MSL

Finca La Pacaya bears that name because searching for the appropriate place to sow the seeds, we arrived at a Pacayas farm in the Ojo de Agua-Tapantugusto canton, Apaneca and Ilamatepec mountain range, located to the north in the department of Sonsonate, at average 1,800 meters above sea level.

The place is ideal for the Geisha T.2722 variety since it has the right soil, height and climate, which combine to obtain the citric acidity that is perceived from its fragrance and aroma, with a balanced body and acidity.

After seven years, the plantation has given the expected results. In 2020 we participated for the first time in the Cup of Excellence in El Salvador, obtaining 4th place.
